Governor Pen Portraits
Matt Pope
My name is Matt and I am Measham CE Primary School's new Chair of Governors and I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I was born and raised in Measham and I have now been a parent at Measham CE Primary for 6 years with all 3 of my children attending the school.
My background is in business and music, both for work and hobby, having worked and lead teams both here and in the Far East. I enjoy a busy life here in Measham and currently teach Maths, Science and Music. I’m excited to come to the role of Chair and want to bring my passion for education, industry and management to the role. We are living and working in unprecedented times and we, as a school, are ensuring that your children are safe, cared for and educated. I’m looking forward to working alongside and supporting the fantastic team that we have at Measham. |
Sylvie Newman
I have spent the last ten years as both a Headteacher and Executive Headteacher in a variety of schools in Leicestershire, all of which have undergone rapid change and have made remarkable improvements. I have been Executive Headteacher at Measham CE Primary since 2016, leading the school to be judged as good by Ofsted in November 2018. The letter following the inspection highlighted the many strengths of the school and acknowledges the significant improvements implemented since my appointment. I split my time between three schools, Measham, Donisthorpe and Ashby Hill Top and work locally as a Local Leader of Education. From prior experience of headship and in my many roles as staff Governor in other schools, I know that a successful and happy school depends on all of us working together and I am committed to working with the Governing Board to provide the very best education and outcomes for our children.

Dawn Blundy
Hello, I am Dawn, married to David and I have 2 grown up children Ryan and Victoria. We share our home with a crazy Labrador called Jasper and an old and much loved cat called William. I have a longstanding relationship with Measham School, starting in 1997 as a lunchtime supervisor/1:1 support. I have had many roles within the school since then, TA, cover supervisor, family liaison worker and even chairperson of the PFA!. Since leaving Measham I have been the deputy manager of a local day nursery, helped to open a nursery in a local school and I am now the manager at K and C kids Cabin in Packington/Ashby. In my spare time I am an assistant guider at a guide unit in Ashby and enjoy taking the dog for long walks in the lovely local countryside. I am extremely proud to be continuing my association with the school in my new role as Governor. Many of the parents and staff who know me, know that Measham families and the community have always been an important part of my life. I am excited that I can continue to support the staff, children and families in this exciting new role.

Sarah Pemberton
My name is Sarah Pemberton, and my six-year-old daughter currently attends Measham CE Primary School. I have a strong belief that quality of education allows children to thrive and reach their full potential, and I want to help in any way I can to deliver the objectives of the school. Growing up in a single parent household on benefits, education played a significant part in my childhood and I am grateful for the Parent Governor role as an opportunity to help young children flourish.
As an Associate Director in an accountancy firm, I have over ten years’ experience of working in a variety of teams to deliver complex tax advice and calculations to global employers. As part of my current role, I globally coordinate a significant client relationship, which involves holding colleagues accountable for actions and budget to ensure quality and consistency of service delivery. I also manage a team of approximately 20 employees, as well as maintaining both internal and external relationships built on mutual trust and respect. I am hoping to utilise these skills as a Parent Governor. |
Helen Phillips
I am Helen Phillips, joint Vice Chair of Governors. I am a foundation governor which means I have been appointed by the Church. I have been a governor for around 30 years, originally as a parent governor, and have observed many changes and seen the school go from strength to strength.
You may have seen me in school or at St Laurence Church, where I attend regularly and am often involved with fund raising activities. My background is in industry where I was responsible for quality and health and safety. The experience I gained I bring to the governing board where I take specific interest in health and safety and am on the finance committee. I live in Measham with my husband and have 2 sons, both who attended this school, and have 2 grandchildren. I have been retired for the last 10 years and, in my spare time, enjoy walking, spending time with my family, taking holidays and travelling. |
Kirsty Blake

I have two children that attend Measham CE Primary School in EYFS and Year 4. The boys absolutely love coming to school and since they have started Measham, its amazing to see how much progress they have made. I also have an older daughter that is currently in Year 9. I am also a beaver leader and love exploring the outdoors. |
Craig Buck
I became a Parent Governor in October 2020. This is my first term as a governor but I have been a clerk to governors for 6 years. I decided to become a Parent Governor as I am committed to helping the school drive forward by building an environment that allows every child to grow and have the school journey they deserve. In my professional life, I work in quality control delivering strategic solutions to ensure that the company maintains a right first time attitude. I also have a background in H&S.
I hope my professional skills will be useful to my fellow Governors and Measham Primary School. |
