Welcome to the Rabbits Class!
Another half term is here and it will be an exciting one, as our topic is ‘Why do we Celebrate?’.
Our topic will begin with an Inspiration Day on Tuesday 29th October. We will be organising and throwing our own party with the Badgers Class! In the morning we will plan and make games for our party. In the afternoon we will have a great time playing lots of party games! The children are welcome to wear their own clothes to the party. If they would like to, please send them in with their clothes in a bag to get changed in the afternoon. School uniform must still be worn in the morning.
When the excitement has died down after the party we shall be learning about:
Seasons and seasonal change
Continents and oceans
In English we shall be writing instructions as well as writing stories.
In Maths we shall be learning about addition and subtraction to 20, shapes, patterns and measurement.
On the week beginning 21st October, the children will be taking part in a science, maths, design and technology themed week with activities relating to the book:
What is smaller than a Pygmy Shrew?
On Monday 28th October the Rabbits will be performing a dance to the rest of the school. We have been learning the ‘Cha Cha Slide’, so any extra dancing at home will only help our performance shine! The children love the dance and have some great moves!
Spellings will continue to be given out every Friday ready for the test on the following Friday on the Year 1 common exception words. Please could you help your child to learn these words at home. Our aim is for the children to get 4/5 or 5/5 every week.
The Rabbits class will have PE on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Please make sure their indoor and outdoor kit is in school at all times. Please can hair be tied up and if possible earrings removed on these days.
The children will be heard at least twice a week in school, and heard as a group twice during guided reading. The children are expected to bring in their reading book every day. The aim is that you can hear your child read as much as possible at home. Please feel free to comment about how they get on in their reading diary.
Keep checking back to see all the fantastic things we get up to in the photographs below!
