Welcome to Year 1!
Welcome back to our final exciting term, we have so many things planned and are looking forward to lots of outdoor learning in the sunshine. We are really excited about our new topic ‘What makes a garden flourish? In this topic we will be doing lots of investigation; looking at how plants grow, function and what they need to survive. In English we will be focusing on instructional writing, starting with how to build a bird feeder and then writing our own set of instructions on how to plant and care for a seed. In Mathematics we will be expanding our knowledge, looking at numbers to 100 and in Art we will be learning all about the artist Andy Goldsworthy, using nature to create unique and natural designs. Every Thursday the children will visit the library to choose a book to read for pleasure. Reading at home is incredibly important for your child’s progress, so please continue to hear your child read at home. Additionally, practicing with the phonics QR codes given out at the recent parents workshop will support your child further. Please make sure their reading book is in school every day. Their book will be changed every Monday and Thursday. We will be having PE every Thursday and Friday so please could your child come to school dressed in their indoor PE kit. Come back soon to see what we have been learning. #curiosity #positivity #communication |
