Welcome to Otters!
Class Teacher: Miss Winfield
Welcome to The Otters.
I hope everyone had a super half term break; rested and ready for the next term ahead. This term we will be focusing on the topic 'Is there anyone out there?'- we will be investigating everything Space, Earth and Moon. We are excited to be looking in to the latest developments in to Space travel, the Mars One project and how technology has progressed over the years, enabling us to not only visit space but to also 'holiday' there. Would you like a trip to space? On our inspiration day we will be stepping in to the universe itself! Get ready for take-off!
In English we will be reading 'The Many Worlds of Albie Bright' by Christopher Edge and using this as our inspiration for improving our inference, deduction, description and vocabulary skills. Albie creates a time machine to travel to alternative universes to find many different versions of himself in the quest to locate his mum - an amazing story with links to various topics and ideas.
Alongside all of this, and the build up to Christmas, we also have our: STEM week - using the text 'What is smaller than a pygmy shrew' to look at size through the eyes of science, mathematics and design and technology; we have our Year 5/6 residential to Culmington Manor, Shropshire; and we are limbering up for the dance festival.
Remember PE is a Tuesday, Swimming is on Wednesday, Spellings are given out and tested on a Tuesday and Homework is given out on a Friday.
Keep checking back to see all the fantastic things we are doing, in the photographs below.
