Welcome to Moles!
Welcome back after half term, I hope that you had a restful break. This half term, we will be focusing on the question 'What's the Link?' in topic lessons. We will be looking at the link between the UK and the rest of Europe, focusing mainly on the trade and food links. The children will get to learn about a range of new cultures, as well as cooking and tasting lots of yummy new food! We will be focusing on answering the question 'are we sustainable?'. We may even briefly look into what Brexit is and how this will impact our nation!
In English, we will be studying 'Madame Pamplemousse and Her Incredible Edibles' by Rupert Kingfisher, which is set in Paris and focuses on the amazing food that a chef creates in her restaurant. Our continuing focus is broadening vocabulary as well as getting the opportunity to complete writing in a range of genres, inspired by our class book.
In mathematics, our prime focus this term is perfecting our skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. We will also be working on our 3, 4 and 8 times tables.
For PE, our term will begin with the yearly dance festival, where the children will perform their dance to the song 'This Is Me' which they have been perfecting for the last 7 weeks. We are very excited! PE continues to be on a Wednesday and Friday so please ensure your child has full PE kit on these days.
Homework is given out on Fridays and is due in on the following Thursday so we can mark it together as a class. Spellings are also given out on Friday (these are stuck in reading records) and are tested on the following Friday.
