Welcome to Badgers!
I am thrilled to welcome your children to the Badgers Class, where we are set to embark on an exciting term of learning and growth together. In our class, we have a dynamic mix of Year 1 and Year 2 children and along with myself they will be supported by our skilled teaching assistant, Mrs. Aston-Wright on Monday- Thursday and by Miss Plant on Fridays. Our first topic of the term is "Does Measham Have a Memory?" Together, we will explore how Measham has evolved over the past century. Our young explorers will have the opportunity to visit the Measham Museum, where they will uncover fascinating insights into our community's history. From the former canal to the origin of our village's name, the children will piece together the puzzle of Measham's past. Physical Education (PE) days will be held every Wednesday and Friday. Please ensure your child comes to school dressed in their PE kit – black shorts or trousers paired with a white T-shirt. Kindly remember to label all uniform items to avoid mix-ups and lost belongings. Encouraging your child to read at home is an important and essential part of their education journey. Reading books will be changed every Monday and Thursday. Additionally, your child will be heard by either Mrs. Aston-Wright or myself at least once a week. Over the coming weeks, the children will engage in diverse activities. They will craft imaginative stories based on "Last Stop on Market Street." They will master numbers by counting forwards and backwards up to 100, delving into the world of mathematics. In science, they will investigate seasonal changes, fostering a deeper understanding of their environment. They will explore mapping Measham, learn dance routines, and embrace the spirit of diversity. These exciting endeavours await them! Finally, phonics lessons will be an integral part of our daily routine, with tailored sessions for both Year 1 and Year 2 children. I anticipate a splendid first half-term and can't wait to embark on this exciting term with your children.
