Welcome to Foxes
Welcome back to the Summer term - this year seems to be flying by. This half term, we will be looking at ways to be kind to ourselves, our friends and families, our neighbours, our community, our country and the world with our topic of 'Don't worry, BEE happy'. We will be researching biomes, climate zones and looking at honey bees and their importance in the world; what would happen without them and how we can help save our planet - the rewilding of Chernobyl. In English, we will be using The Write Stuff to focus on punctuation, change in formality and vocabulary. We will be taking inspiration from We're all Wonders by RJ Palacio to create a narrative and complete a non-chronological report on Honey Bees. In Mathematics, we will be revising and revisiting the Year 6 topics in preparation for the SATs, when the SATs are completed, then we will begin our transition work to high school including algebra and binary. This term we will also be going on our residential - which we are really looking forward to and be prepared for the children bringing home scripts for their end of year production. To compliment this learning, we will be investigating the sounds and syllables in our spellings - spellings will come home on a Friday and will be tested on the following Friday. Weekly practise of handwriting and daily reading will take place, so please make sure your child has a book in school and reads regularly at home. Our PE lessons are on a Tuesday and Wednesday - please come to school in a white t-shirt, plain black bottoms (shorts for gymnastics) and suitable trainers. You can wear your school jumper or hoody on these days. Come back soon to see and see all the great things we are doing. #resilience #risk-taking #ambition |
