Welcome to Foxes!

Welcome to Foxes
Welcome back after a lovely sunny summer break - I hope you are well rested and ready for the joys and wonder of Year 6.
This term we will be beginning with a two week focus on Sentence structure and Number. We will be looking at what makes a sentence and the types of sentences needed to make our extended writing interesting and informative - punctuation, punctuation and more punctuation. In mathematics, we are focusing on 'number' - what a number means and how we can represent this in various ways. Place value is an important part of this and we will explore further as we move into the autumn term.
To compliment this learning, we will be investigating the sounds and syllables in our spellings - spellings will come home on a Friday and will be tested on the following Friday. Weekly practise of handwriting and lots of reading will happen, so please make sure your child has a book in school and reads regularly at home.
Our topic this term is 'How can we survive?' - we are focusing on the Amazon Rainforest - researching it's biomes, climate and plants. We will be asking questions of what the plants do for us and what we can do for the plants to help with the symbiosis of the world's survival.
Our PE lessons are on a Monday and Wednesday - please come to school in a white t-shirt, plain black bottoms and suitable trainers. You can wear your school jumper or hoody on these days.
Come back soon to see and see all the great things we are doing.
