Welcome to Foxes
Welcome back to another fantastic fun-filled half term, we hope you've had a lovely Christmas and New Year. This term we will be using The Write Stuff to study The Highwayman Poem - we will be focusing on rhyme and repetition, whilst also identifying other lenses being used. Our independent write will focus on an alternative ending, using all the elements and vocabulary taught in class. In mathematics we will be pulling apart word problems, using all the elements of maths learnt so far. We will use bar models and Cuisenaire rods where possible to break the maths down and help with an understanding of the important information needed from a word problem to solve it. Weekly homework will be sent home to support the learning in class. To compliment this learning, we will be investigating the sounds and syllables in our spellings - spellings will come home on a Friday and will be tested on the following Friday. Weekly practise of handwriting and daily reading will take place, so please make sure your child has a book in school and reads regularly at home. Our topic this term is 'Does the punishment fit the crime?' - we are focusing on crime and punishment through the ages, from the Roman times, Anglo-Saxons, Tudors, Victorians and current. We will investigate similarities and differences and compare and contrast the methods of punishment used. In our science lessons, we will be investigating Electricity simple and parallel circuits and how different equipment can affect this. Our PE lessons are on a Tuesday and Wednesday - please come to school in a white t-shirt, plain black bottoms (shorts for gymnastics) and suitable trainers. You can wear your school jumper or hoody on these days. Come back soon to see and see all the great things we are doing. #resilience #risk-taking #ambition |
