Welcome to Foxes
Welcome to a long Autumn 2 term - this term we will have lots of exciting opportunities of STEM week, Dance festival, the build up towards Christmas with the Pantomime and much more. Our topic this half term is all about Space with the question of 'Is there anyone out there?'. We will be looking at the planets, phases of the moon, light and exploring the artist Peter Thorpe with his use of vibrant colours and light using the medium of chalk and pastels. In our English lessons we will be taking inspiration from 'One Small Step', a short video clip about aspirations of a young girl to go into space. We will use The Write Stuff lenses to write lots of description, keeping a focus on commas and sentence structure. In mathematics, we need to hone our times tables to focus on factors and multiples, moving on to fractions. Lots of fluency, problem solving and reasoning skills being used to ensure that a good grasp of fractions takes place. This year we will also be looking at Oracy - thinking about our spoken language, conversational skills and being able to talk fluently and coherently in all areas of the curriculum. Homework and spellings will be given out on a Friday and will be marking in class together on a Friday. Please practise these at home. Weekly practise of handwriting, times tables and daily reading will take place, so please make sure your child has a book in school and reads regularly at home. Our PE lessons are on a Wednesday and Friday - please come to school in a white t-shirt, plain black bottoms (shorts for gymnastics) and suitable trainers. You can wear your school jumper or hoody on these days. Swimming will take place on a Fridays - so please remember your costume, towel and a hat. Come back soon to see and see all the great things we are doing. #resilience #risk-taking #ambition |
