Welcome to Foxes
Welcome back to an amazing Summer term in Year 6. This half term we will be focusing our attention on #kindness in our topic of 'Who is Kind?'. We will be studying the book - Wonder by RJ Palacio using The Write Stuff method of teaching including the Writing Rainbow. Spelling will be taught in the Sounds Write way, looking at the phonics and sounds.
In mathematics, we are consolidating the basics of the 4 operations, ensuring that a sound understanding is met by all pupils, during this we will investigating, problem solving and reasoning our thoughts and Ideas.
Alongside these lessons we will be recapping our multiplication tables on a daily basis.
In our topic of 'Who is kind?' we are thinking about how looking after the small things in the community, country and environment can have a big effect on the world (butterfly effect). We are also looking after the world by beginning our project of 'save the bees' - understanding how important insects are in the symbiosis on Earth. We will planting seeds, looking at the anatomy of bees, pollination and the balance of nature.
We will also be:
* creating spreadsheets
* modelling with clay
* thinking about what Jesus would do.
PE will take place on Wednesday afternoons. Please make sure your child comes to school in their PE kit (plain black shorts / tracksuits, plain white t-shirt and plain black or red jumper)
Bring in your named water bottles each day.
Remember not to bring any stationary or 'toys' into school - we will supply all that is needed.
Don't forget a reading book - or you can borrow one from the library.
Also remember to bring a coat as we will get outside as much as possible.
Keep checking back to see all the fantastic things we are doing, in the photographs below.
