Welcome to Foxes
Welcome back to a fantastic new year with so many exciting things to look forward to.
Our topic this term is 'War or Peace?' where we will be researching and discussing wars, conflicts, civil wars, leadership styles and weaponry. We will also be studying Banksy and how he interprets war and peace through his graffiti art work.
Our class book in English will begin with Letters from a Lighthouse by Emma Carroll, then Eleven by Tom Rogers. Through these texts, we will look at the basics of grammar, recounts, narratives, vocabulary and elements of the Writing Rainbow included in The Write Stuff.
We will be using these books in our English work and also reading in our story time.
Mathematics will concentrate on Place Value - ensuring that we understand ordering, comparing, values of the digits and multiplying and dividing by 10, 100 and 1000 through positive and negative numbers, money, decimals and fractions.
As scientists, we will be focusing our questioning and prediction skills. We will also be looking at how to write a successful method when investigating reversible and irreversible changes.
Spellings will take place on a Wednesdays - please ensure that your child practises their words each week.
PE will be on a Wednesday and Friday, please ensure that your children come to school in their PE kits on a Friday and brings a PE kit on Wednesday.
We also have Forest School this half term on a Wednesday - these sessions will be run by Mrs Hart. Please ensure that your child comes to school in appropriate, warm, waterproof clothing.
