Welcome back to a brand-new half term filled with excitement and learning! We're thrilled to embark on a journey into the past as we explore the fascinating tale of the Great Fire of London, a topic that never fails to captivate the imaginations of children.
Throughout this term, the children will delve into the causes and duration of the Great Fire, discovering how the people of that time managed to extinguish the flames using materials available to them. They'll step into the shoes of historians, examining primary sources like Samuel Pepys's diary and even crafting their own diary entries to gain a deeper understanding of the historical events. In addition to our thrilling history unit, we'll be taking a closer look at the United Kingdom, with a specific focus on England and its iconic capital, London. From landmark exploration to creative storytelling, the children will embark on a journey of discovery. Get ready for some creative writing as the children craft their own versions of the Three Little Pigs, adding their unique twists to this classic tale. Meanwhile, in Mathematics, the focus will be on shape, subtraction and addition. Don't forget that PE will continue to be an essential part of our weekly routine, with sessions every Wednesday and Friday. Please ensure your children come to school dressed in their PE kit on these days. Reading books will be changed every Monday and Thursday. Please encourage your children to read their books repeatedly to enhance their fluency and comprehension skills. We're looking forward to an incredible half-term filled with exploration, creativity, and learning. #curiosity #positivity #communication |
